Insource Performance Solutions Engineering Manager Receives Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

Charlotte, NC, May 5 2010Amadeo Ferreira of Insource Performance Solutions (http://www.insourceperforms.com), a proven leader in performance based workforce solutions, has received his Six Sigma Black Belt certification.  This designation signifies a thorough understanding of Six Sigma philosophies and principles, including supporting systems and tools.  The certification is given to those who complete rigorous testing and demonstration of the practical application of established Six Sigma methodologies.

Six Sigma is a business management strategy that seeks to improve quality by identifying and removing the causes of defects , or errors.  In addition, it focuses on minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes.  It uses a set of quality management methods, including statistical methods, and creates a special infrastructure of people within the organization (“Black Belts”, “Green Belts”, etc.) who are experts in these methods.  Each Six Sigma project carried out within an organization follows a defined sequence of steps and has quantified targets. These targets can be financial (cost reduction or profit increase) or whatever is critical to the customer of that process (cycle time, safety, delivery, etc.).

Mr. Ferreira received his undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from UCAB in Caracas, Venezuela.  From there he went on to receive a Master of Engineering in Engineering Management from the University of Florida, a program that combines an MBA with an Industrial Engineering degree.  He has been with Insource in various roles since 2000 and currently serves as Engineering Manager.  He joins a number of Insource Engineers, Managers and supervisors who have earned Six Sigma certifications.

Performance Center

At Insource we manage performance and Continuous Process Improvement on behalf of our clients.  We have developed a standardized improvement philosophy which integrates elements of Six Sigma, Lean Production, and internal Best Practices into a single process improvement framework.  We call it “The Insource Way”.

Over time we have also developed a series of tools - strategic, tactical, and operational - to address any possible situation and create predictable and repeatable outcomes.  Many of these tools are proprietary and we leverage them as part of our overall service offering.  However a number of these tools are commonly available and we feel they can be useful for anyone seeking improvement in their operation.  We have put several of these tools on this page for general use.

Results

The ultimate test for Insource is to produce real and tangible results for our clients.  It is more than just meeting minimum requirements, it is about working together with and for our customers to create a culture of performance and shared success.

When you partner with Insource you should expect to see quantifiable results in Quality, Cost, Delivery and Safety.  To consistently produce these results we leverage our real-world experience and expertise in these three disciplines:

Industrial and Process Engineering

Value stream mapping, 5S, Standardized work, Project prioritization, Time-Motion studies, Set-Up time reduction, Downtime analysis, Demand profile analysis and Quality-Cost-Delivery score-carding.

Operational Supervision and Management

Motivational compensation development and deployment, focusing, measuring, monitoring and improving performance against established or mutually developed KPI’s.

Labor

Recruiting, screening, hiring, training, compensation, compliance and personnel/benefits administration.

QUALITY

Direct Benefits: You will see no degradation in quality and in fact you should see improvement over the historical performance of the particular area for which Insource assumes responsibility. We will align our quality metrics with yours and manage to those metrics.

Indirect Benefits: Our quality focus reduces defects, thereby rework levels are reduced such that all efforts can be directed towards productive output. In addition, fewer defects in the system means higher satisfaction levels for your customers.

COST

Direct Benefits: Insource focuses on reducing your total cost to operate. Your cost structure will be lower with Insource. Through any combination of our service offerings you will have better control over your labor cost per unit of work.

Indirect Benefits: As needed we will develop any combination of pricing menus or activity based costs. This gives you what we refer to as "budget certainty" but is ultimately realized as peace of mind.

DELIVERY

Direct Benefits: Delivery is an operational concept best thought of in terms of output or throughput. If you need to get more units out the door, or are subject to consistent on-time production requirements, we can help.

Indirect Benefits: With our performance accountability you will have to devote less of your time to shop floor daily deliverables.

SAFETY

Direct Benefits: Due to our unique managed workforce structure and customized safety programs you will have reduced OSHA log management requirements. Our self contained programs and focus on safety means fewer incidents for you to manage.

Indirect Benefits: Safety impacts so many aspects of your business. A safe work environment contributes to increased productivity in your business and greater overall worker satisfaction for our employees and yours.

We perform both on-line and off-line assembly, and the lines we manage may produce identical products for an entire shift or product configurations may change every hour. We can work with you to balance lines, create standard work documents and implement 5S, all while delivering on time and according to your schedule and your metrics. Distribution

Distribution is the last touch before your products reach the customer. This is the perfect place for the Accountability and Quality focus that Insource provides. Our Performance Engineers and Associates can work with you to optimize the way your products move through distribution, help you rethink picking and packing areas, speed up returns processing and then execute the plan in any of these areas. Our flexibility allows us to expand and contract and to flow though your operation as demand dictates.

Value Added Services

Over the last decade the trend toward mass customization has led to an increased need for value added services in manufacturing and distribution. Insource is a perfect fit for the fast pace and variability that your VAS operations demand. Our Fixed Cost Per Unit and PerformFlex business models can help you achieve budget and profit certainty in these areas; and our experience with applications like postponement, sorting, repackaging, labeling and display building, allows you to focus your time and energies on running your business.

Solutions

Our solutions are defined by our accountability for performance.  We increase throughput, improve quality and reduce total costs for you in your operations by:

  1) Aligning our performance objectives with your metrics and jointly reviewing desired results

  2) Designing and implementing process improvements through our team of experienced performance engineers

  3) Managing our workforce within your facilities with specially trained and highly motivated performance supervisors

Our solution allows you to align your financial and operational goals with a trusted, experienced and proven partner.

We offer a Fixed Cost Per Unit model that provides budget certainty along with reliable quality and on time performance.

Our Flexible Managed Workforce model provides the same commitment and performance accountability while providing a managed workforce that can flex throughout your operation through the guidance of our on-site supervisor.

Our PerformFlex model combines both these approaches enabling you to assign Insource full responsibility for certain work cells yet also have a flexible, well managed workforce available to meet your varying needs throughout your operation.

Fixed Cost Per Unit

We are so confident in our ability to design and manage labor intensive processes that we offer a guaranteed quality and labor cost per unit (CPU) model. Our CPU model provides budget certainty and comes with a quality commitment. If our workmanship doesn’t meet the output requirements we will rework the unit at no additional cost. Our focus on cost and quality ensures the processes we manage are the top performing contributors to your operations’ success.

Flexible Managed Workforce

Our performance focus sets us apart even when providing more flexible workforce solutions. Our supervisor becomes your single point of contact to determine the number and skills of the performance associates we need to meet your production challenges. We ensure the right people are trained, available and accountable for the results you expect.

PerformFlex

With Insource as your partner you can combine our CPU and Flexible Managed Workforce approaches to optimize the labor performance of your entire operation. Our supervisors work along-side yours planning labor requirements and targeting performance metrics. With our workforce leaders’ objectives aligned, we will manage the most difficult work processes and provide a performance focused labor pool that can flex across all departments as needed.
